Strike & Submit 9
Strike and Submit 9 on Sunday sees the now familiar formula of high level fights at the top of the card plus hundreds of local lads being given a chance lower down.
Resident superstar Pete Irving takes on Igor Araujo in the main event. Araujo was spectacularly twatted by Jim Wallhead at the UK M-1 Challenge, but he is not to be taken lightly. His jiu jitsu is top class and, if the fight hits the canvas, the Brazilian has the skills to trouble anyone.
There is a growing buzz around Pete Irving- including a Facebook group demanding a UFC contract for him. Each time I’ve seen him- Irving looks the biz and claiming another international scalp would make the move up to the big leagues more likely. Check out Peter Irving in Brazil (Video) and Fighters Only Interview.
Catch Irving while you can still see him from close enough to the cage to feel his opponent’s snot flying out.
From the start, Promoter Michael Surtees has brought quality imports to the Lancastrian Suite- with names such as Per Eklund and Diego Gonzalez featuring on early Strike and Submits. He took a hit in the pocket with his initial shows, but the packed houses since are testament to his vision.
Build it and they will come.
The last card I saw for the show featured 22 fights, including 11 pro bouts.
Now that’s what you call value for money.

UPDATE
Below is a statement copied from cagewarriors forum
Unfortunately we had the very bad news yesterday the Pete Irving had been rushed to hospital with a swollen stomache and kidney’s pain. I believe they suspected pendicitis at first. I have spoken to Pete and he absouloutley gutted he has had to pull out of this fight and he is having some rest now to try and recover from what has causd this. We would like to wish Pete a full and quick recovery, and we will see him back on S & S 11 in July this year.
We have now replaced Pete with Matt Inman.
